Youden's J statistic

Youden's J statistic is a way of measuring how well two things are connected. It's named after its inventor, John Youden!

To use it, you start by looking at two sets of figures: one from the group of people that got one thing (Group A) and one from the people who got something else (Group B). Then, you compare the two sets of figures. If the people in Group A and the people in Group B have similar figures, you can say the two groups are connected.

To measure this connection, Youden's J statistic is used. It looks at the overall differences between the figures of Group A and Group B, and it tries to figure out how well they match up. The bigger the number that comes out, the more connected the two groups are.
