Zero set

Have you ever played the game "I spy with my little eye"? Well, imagine you are looking at a picture and trying to find all the things that are the color blue. The "zero set" is like that, but instead of looking for a color, we are looking for a solution to an equation.

Let's say we have an equation that looks like this: x + 3 = 5. We want to know what number "x" is that would make this equation true. The zero set is all the numbers that make this equation equal to zero. In this case, the zero set would be x = 2 because if we put 2 in for x, then 2 + 3 = 5.

So, the zero set is like a secret club for numbers that can solve an equation. Just like how you only spy things that are the color blue, we only look for numbers that solve the equation!
