The zettabyte era is the time when the amount of data being stored and used on computers is so large that it's measured in zettabytes. A zettabyte is a very big number—it's one trillion gigabytes. That's as much data as there would be if you took a trillion 1-gigabyte hard drives and filled them up. As more people use the internet and mobile phones, the amount of data created and stored worldwide keeps growing.
