Corinth Canal

The Corinth Canal is a very deep, narrow canal like a big ditch that runs through the middle of Greece connecting the Saronic Gulf and the Gulf of Corinth. It is 4 miles long and 26 feet wide but almost 100 feet deep! It was built long ago to make it easier for ships to travel between the Aegean Sea and the Ionian Sea and to avoid having to sail around the Peloponnese peninsula. Ships still use the canal today and it helps transport goods and passengers quicker and more efficiently.
