Cove (standing stones)

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with blocks before? Well, imagine big blocks that stand up all by themselves outside in a field. Those big blocks are called cove standing stones.

Long, long ago, people used to make these stones by carving and shaping them from rocks they found in the ground. They would then stand them up in the fields as a sort of monument or marker. These stones can be very tall, as tall as a grown-up, or even taller!

Now, the people who made these stones didn't just put them up because they looked cool. They actually had a special meaning to them. Some people thought that the stones had magical powers and that they could protect them from bad things. Other people thought that the stones were used as a way to tell time, or even to mark special places in the land.

Today, many people still go visit these cove standing stones to see them and learn about the history of the people who made them. They are a really cool piece of history that we can still see and touch today!
