ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Menhir

Okay, let me explain menhir to you like you're five years old.

A menhir is a big, tall stone that stands upright all by itself. Sometimes it can be as tall as a giant! Menhirs can be found all over the world, but some of the most famous ones are in places like France, England, and Ireland.

Some people think that menhirs were put there by ancient people a long, long time ago. They might have been used for important religious ceremonies or as a way to mark important places like boundaries or grave sites. Or they might have just been put there because the ancient people thought they looked cool!

Nowadays, if you go to a place where there are menhirs, you can see them standing up tall and proud, just like they have for thousands of years. Some people even like to visit them and take pictures with them, just like you might take a picture with your friends!
