ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mangle (machine)

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes you draw a picture and it's not quite right, so you need to fix it? That's kind of like what a computer does with some information that it sends out.

There is something called a "mangle machine" that helps the computer change and fix information that it sends out in a network. The machine does this by looking at some special rules, called "rules of engagement", and it changes the information based on those rules.

Think about it like a game of telephone. If you and your friends were playing telephone, and someone didn't hear the message right, you might need to fix it so that the next person gets the right message. The mangle machine is like the person who fixes the message so that it gets sent to the right place.

So basically, it's a cool machine that helps keep your computer messages going in the right direction and helps fix them when they go off course. Pretty neat, huh?
