Non-megalithic long barrow

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing in the park and you find a really big rock. Imagine that people a long time ago thought this rock was really special and important, so they decided to build something on top of it. But instead of building a big building like a castle or a church, they decided to make a big mound of dirt. This special mound is called a long barrow.

Now, there are two kinds of long barrows - megalithic and non-megalithic. Megalithic long barrows were made with really big, heavy stones called megaliths. But non-megalithic long barrows were made without these big stones. They were still made with dirt, but no megaliths were used to build them.

So a non-megalithic long barrow is just a big mound of dirt made by ancient people, but without the big stones that were used in some other ones. It was probably used as a special place to bury important people, like kings or queens or other important folks. People could come and visit the long barrow to remember and honor those important people who had passed away.
