Nordic megalith architecture

Nordic megalith architecture is all about ancient buildings that were made a very long time ago in northern Europe by our ancestors. They were made by piling up big rocks on top of each other without using any glue or cement. It's called megalith because it's made up of two words. Mega means 'big', and lith means 'a rock'. So, when you put them together, it becomes 'big rock'.

These structures were created by people who lived in northern Europe thousands of years ago. The buildings were made with huge stones that were dragged by them from far away places. Can you imagine how heavy and hard it would have been to move these massive stones?

The Nordic megaliths are mostly called 'dolmens' and 'hunebeds'. Dolmens are ancient tombs. They were used to bury people who died a long time ago. Hunebeds were also tombs, but they are different because they were not only used for burials but also for several other things.

The people who made these megaliths didn't have modern technology like we have today. They did not have any fancy machines to help them cut and move the stones. So, they had to use all their muscle power and tools to do the job.

Some scientists believe that these megalithic structures were built for religious or spiritual purposes, while others say they were built as homes for the living or the dead. One thing is sure, though – they are impressive feats of engineering, and they offer us a glimpse into the lives of our ancestors and their impressive skills.
