Poisson regression

Poisson regression is a way of looking at data when we want to figure out the likelihood of certain events happening. It helps us to predict how many times something is likely to happen in a certain time period, like how many times a certain type of crime might happen in a city in a year, or how many people might get sick with a certain type of sickness in a month. Poisson regression uses mathematical equations to look at data and predict these things. It starts by looking at previous events and then calculates a probability of the same thing happening again in the future. So when people use poisson regression, they can get an idea of how likely certain events are.
