ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

16-cell

Imagine you have a ball and a box. You can open the box and put the ball inside. Now, let's say you want to make more balls and put them inside the box too. You keep doing this until there are 16 balls inside the box.

Now, imagine that these balls are actually special cells in your body. They are very important because they can turn into many different types of cells, like skin cells, muscle cells, bone cells, and more!

When there are only 16 cells in your body, they are called "16-cell stage." This is a very early stage in your development when you were just a tiny ball of cells, much much smaller than a grain of rice.

As you grew, those 16 cells started to divide and specialize into different types of cells, creating all the different parts of your body, like your brain, your eyes, your lungs, and your heart. But it all started with those 16 cells!
