1959 Tibetan uprising

In 1959, there was a big problem in a place called Tibet. Tibet was a really big area in Asia, and it was ruled by a group of people called the Chinese. The people of Tibet didn't like the Chinese because they treated them badly and didn't let them do what they wanted.

One day, the leader of Tibet, a man named Dalai Lama, had to flee from his home because the Chinese army was coming to get him. Lots of other Tibetans didn't like this, so they decided to protest against the Chinese rule.

They all gathered together and marched through the streets, shouting and holding signs. But the Chinese army came and began to attack them. Many people got hurt, and lots of Tibetans had to run away into the mountains to hide.

The Tibetan people didn't give up though. They continued to fight for their country and culture. Even though it was a long time ago, people still remember the 1959 Tibetan uprising because it was a time when the people of Tibet stood up for themselves and their rights.
