1964 Philadelphia race riot

Okay kiddo, so let's talk about something called the 1964 Philadelphia race riot. Do you know what a riot is? It's when a lot of people get very upset and start doing things that are dangerous or illegal.

Now, back in 1964, there was a lot of tension and anger between black people and white people in Philadelphia. This was because black people were being treated unfairly and not given the same opportunities as white people.

One day, things boiled over and some black people started protesting against this unfair treatment. Unfortunately, some people in the protest got really angry and started throwing rocks and breaking windows.

This made things even worse because then some white people got angry too and they started fighting with the black people. It was a very scary situation.

The police were called to try and calm everyone down, but it was really hard for them to control the situation. People were getting hurt and property was being destroyed.

In the end, it took several days for the riot to calm down. Many people were hurt and some even died. This was a really sad and scary time for Philadelphia, and it's important to remember it so we can make sure we treat everyone fairly and with respect.
