2009 satellite collision

In 2009, two satellites, one owned by Russia and the other owned by the United States, collided in space! They were both traveling very fast and they crashed into each other, like two cars driving really fast and smashing into each other. It was a very big crash, and pieces of the satellites flew off in all directions. This was exciting news for scientists, but it also showed how important it is to keep track of what's going on in space, so accidents like this don't happen again.
