A language is a dialect with an army and navy

Have you ever heard people speaking different ways but they all understand each other? That's called a dialect. But sometimes, when a group of people who speak a dialect are very powerful and important, they call their dialect a language. When a group of people with an army and navy speak a dialect, they get to call it a language because they have a lot of power and can make other people speak their way too. So, a language is really just a special kind of dialect that is spoken by people who are important and have a lot of influence.
