AI winter

Okay kiddo, so there is something called Artificial Intelligence or AI which is when machines or computers can think and learn like humans. Back in the 1980s, there was a lot of excitement about AI and people thought that computers would be able to do pretty much everything humans can do very soon. But then, something happened called the "AI Winter".

Now, imagine it's winter time and it's really cold outside. The same thing happened to AI - there was a "freeze" in the development of AI. People realized that the computers were actually not as smart as they thought they could be and they were not able to do everything humans could do.

This "winter" lasted for a while, but then some smart people started working really hard on making AI better and smarter than before. They created new algorithms and software programs that allowed computers to learn things on their own and do tasks that were once considered too difficult for them. This "springtime" allowed AI to grow and develop once again and now we have things like virtual assistants, self-driving cars, and robots that can help us out in our daily lives.

So don't worry kid, just like winter eventually ends and spring comes, the AI winter ended and now we have even better technology than before.
