Achieved status is something you get by doing something. It means that you have to work for it and earn it. For example, if you get good grades in school, people may call you “smart” or “clever” because you earned those grades. That would be an example of an achieved status. It’s different from something you’re born with, like your eye color or height. Those are examples of ascribed status because you can’t change them, they’re just part of who you are. With achieved status, you have to work hard and do something to earn it.
