ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Adductor muscles of the hip

Okay kiddo, so the adductor muscles of the hip are a group of muscles in your legs that help you move your legs towards the middle of your body.

You know when you sit in a butterfly pose, and you bring your feet together? That’s the adductor muscles working! They help you pull your legs inward.

There are five muscles that are part of the adductor group: the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, gracilis, and pectineus. Each muscle has a specific job but they all work together to help you move your legs.

These muscles are really important for things like walking, running, and jumping. They help you move your legs in different ways so you can do all kinds of fun activities!

So next time you do a butterfly pose or run around, think about your adductor muscles and how hard they’re working to help you move.
