ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Administrative divisions of Asia

Okay kiddo, you know how you have different grades in your school, and there are different classrooms for each grade? Well, countries in Asia are also divided into different areas which we call "administrative divisions".

Each country has its own way of dividing itself into smaller areas. For example, in China, they have provinces, which are like big states, and then within the provinces, they have smaller divisions called counties. In Japan, they have prefectures instead of provinces, and those are divided into cities, towns, and villages.

In India, they have states, and within the states, they have districts and sometimes even smaller divisions called talukas. Now, these areas are used to help the government manage things better. It's easier for them to organize their activities and keep track of what's happening in different parts of the country.

So just like how your teacher can easily manage and track the progress of each grade in a school, the government can manage and track the progress of different areas in the country using administrative divisions.
