Affective neuroscience is the study of the way our brain (or neuroscience) affects how we feel. It’s all about how the structures and chemicals in our brain impact our emotions and behavior. We can study this by looking at how the brain works in people who are feeling different emotions, looking at what changes in brain structure when we experience emotions, and figuring out how different emotions can help us make decisions. Scientists study affective neuroscience to try to understand how the brain produces and processes our emotions, so they can better understand how emotions affect our mental health.
