Affinity electrophoresis

Okay kiddo, so you know what electrophoresis is, right? It's when we use electricity to make things move through a gel. Well, affinity electrophoresis is a special type of electrophoresis where we use a gel that has some special molecules stuck to it. These special molecules really like to grab onto certain other molecules, kind of like how your favorite toy always sticks to your hand.

Now, imagine we have a mixture of different molecules that we want to separate and figure out what they are. We can put this mixture onto our special gel, and the molecules that really like our special molecules will grab onto them and stick in one spot. The other molecules that don't like our special molecules will keep moving through the gel.

So, by using this special gel and our mixture of molecules, we can separate the different types of molecules based on which ones like our special molecules and which ones don't. This helps us figure out what type of molecules we have and how much of each type we have.

Pretty cool, huh? It's kind of like a game of sorting toys into different toy bins based on which ones stick to a special sticker.
