ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Afflatus

Alright kiddo, so afflatus is a funny word that some grown-ups use to describe when they suddenly get a really good idea, or feel inspired to do something creative.

Let's say you're drawing a picture and for a while you're not sure what to draw. But then all of a sudden you get an awesome idea for a big, beautiful sun with curly rays shooting out all over the page! That feeling you get is what we call afflatus. It’s like a little spark of inspiration that helps your brain come up with something cool.

Grown-ups use the word 'afflatus' to sound fancy and important, but it really just means 'aha!' moment, when your brain suddenly comes up with something cool. So, next time you feel inspired, you can say you've had afflatus!
