African American women in the silent film era

Okay, so a long time ago, there were these things called silent films. They were movies but there was no sound in them, like in the movies we watch now. Back then, there were very few African American women in these silent films. This is because the people who made the movies thought that only certain people should be in them and they didn't think African American women were good enough to be in them.

But there were some African American women who were able to be in these movies, even though it was difficult. They had to work really hard to prove that they were just as talented as anyone else. These women had to fight against stereotypes and discrimination to be successful in the movie industry.

One of the most famous African American women in the silent film era was a lady named Evelyn Preer. She was a really great actress and was able to be in a lot of movies, even though it was hard for her. She was very talented and worked really hard to show people that she was just as good as any other actress.

Even though there were very few African American women in these silent films, the ones who were able to be in them paved the way for future generations. They showed that no matter who you are or what you look like, you can accomplish anything if you work hard and believe in yourself.
