ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Age of Liberty

Have you ever played a game with your friends and someone always gets to make the rules? Imagine if that person made really unfair rules that only helped them win. That's what it was like in the past when kings and queens had all the power and made rules that only helped them and their rich friends.

But then, something called the Age of Liberty happened. People started realizing that everyone should have a say in making the rules, not just the king or queen. They wanted more freedom to make their own choices and have a say in what happened in their country.

At first, some people were still worried about the idea of democracy where everyone gets to vote and have a say in the rules. They thought that only rich and important people should be allowed to have a say in how things were run. But slowly, people started realizing that everyone should have a voice and the power to make changes.

During the Age of Liberty, countries started to have different forms of government that allowed more people to have a say in what happened. They passed laws to protect people's rights and prevent the king or queen from having too much power. People started to have more freedom to speak their minds and make their own choices.

So now, we live in a time where we have more freedom and choices than ever before. We get to vote and have a say in who runs our country. We have laws that protect our rights and prevent anyone from having too much power over us. All of this started during the Age of Liberty, when people realized that everyone should have a voice and the power to make a difference.
