ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Air Transport Action Group

Okay kiddo, so imagine you want to send a letter or a toy to your friend who lives far away. You can use the post office or a delivery service like FedEx to help you get your letter or toy to your friend quickly.

Now, imagine you want to fly far away to another country to see your friend in person. You can use airplanes to help you travel quickly and safely through the air.

The Air Transport Action Group, or ATAG for short, is a group of people who work together to make sure that airplanes are safe, efficient, and good for the environment. They want to make sure that traveling by airplane is as good as possible for everyone in the world.

ATAG works with airlines (which are companies that own and operate airplanes), governments (which make rules and laws about airplanes), and other groups to make sure that airplanes are doing their best to be safe and responsible. They try to make sure that airplanes are using less fuel, which is better for the environment, and that they are using newer and better technologies to make them safer and more efficient.

Airplanes are really important because they help people to travel all over the world, and they help businesses to sell and ship things all over the world too. So, the ATAG is like a group of grown-up superheroes who work together to make sure that airplanes are doing their best to help people in the world.
