ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Air navigation

Air navigation is the process of getting from one place to another by flying in a plane or helicopter. Air navigation is like following a map in the sky-- you have to follow certain directions, like turning left or right, to get where you need to go. Airplanes have devices like GPS and radar to help them stay on their path. Pilots also get help from air traffic controllers, who tell them what altitude to fly at, how fast to fly, and which route they should take.
