ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Alcohol (drug)

Alcohol is like a medicine that makes you feel different. Some people drink it at parties or bars, while others drink it at home with their family or by themselves. When you drink alcohol, it can make you feel relaxed, happy or even loud and funny. But if you drink too much, it can make you feel sick and dizzy or make you do things you wouldn't normally do.

Alcohol is made from fruits or grains and is a type of drug that is legal for people over 21 years old to purchase and consume. When you drink alcohol, it goes into your stomach and gets absorbed into your blood which carries it to your brain. This is why you may feel different after drinking alcohol.

Like any drug, alcohol can be dangerous if you have too much of it. It can make you lose control of your behavior, cause memory problems or even damage your liver, which is an important part of your body that helps keep you healthy.

It is important to remember that drinking alcohol is a personal choice and you should always be responsible and safe when you choose to drink. This means drinking in moderation, knowing your limits and never drinking and driving.
