Aliasing

In everyday life, aliases are nicknames or other names that people use instead of their real name. Aliasing in computers is the same idea: it's another name given to something to make it easier to think about or to work with. For example, a computer in a network might have a long name or address, but an alias could be used to simplify it or make it easier to remember.
