ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

All fifths tuning

Okay kiddo, I'm going to teach you about something called all fifths tuning. It's a way of tuning musical instruments like guitars, violins and cellos.

You know how we usually tune guitars by turning the tuning pegs until each string sounds right? Well, with all fifths tuning, we tune the strings differently.

Instead of tuning each string to a different note, we tune them to notes that are five notes apart! So if we start with a string tuned to G, the next string would be tuned to D (which is five notes higher than G), the next string would be tuned to A (five notes higher than D), and so on.

This tuning method creates a really cool sound. It's used a lot in classical music and some rock songs. Some musicians like it because it allows them to play really fast and complex music because the notes are all in a logical order.

So essentially, all fifths tuning means tuning our instruments to every fifth note instead of different notes for each string. And it makes our music sound different and can help us play better!
