ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

All the President's Men (film)

Ok kiddo, imagine that the country is like a big playground and the most important person on the playground is the "President." But sometimes, the President and his friends or "staff" do things that they shouldn't do, like cheat or lie. In the movie "All the President's Men," two reporters named Bob and Carl are like the playground monitors or "journalists" who try to find out if the President and his friends did something wrong.

It's kind of like playing detective. They talk to lots of people and look for clues, like pieces of a puzzle. They go to the library to read lots of papers and books. They have lots of meetings with their boss and other people who know a lot about the playground.

It's not easy, because some people don't want to talk to them, and others tell them lies. But they keep trying and trying and finally they start to find some answers. They learn that some of the President's friends did something they shouldn't have, and they even got caught!

The reporters write all about what they found in their newspaper, and a lot of people read it. The President and his staff get in trouble, and some of them have to leave their jobs. But the reporters feel proud because they helped the playground stay fair and honest.
