Allele

An allele is a version of a gene. Genes control things like your eye color, hair color and other traits. Everyone has two sets of genes, one set from their mom and one set from their dad. Each set of genes contains multiple versions of the same gene. These are called alleles. Some alleles make you look one way, and others make you look another way. For example, you might have one allele for brown eyes and one allele for blue eyes.
