Allozyme

Allozymes are like the different colors of candy, but instead of colors they are different types of proteins. Proteins are like special Lego blocks that help build different parts of our body. Allozymes are a special kind of protein that can come in different versions that can be seen by scientists with special tools.

Just like how blue candies taste different than red candies, different allozymes can have different functions in our body. Scientists study these different allozymes to learn more how they work and how they are related to different traits or diseases.
