ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Allport's Scale

Allport's scale is a way of measuring how people interact with each other and how the environment affects them. It helps us understand the different ways people interact with each other and the world around them. It has five levels, which are:
1. Intimacy: People who have a close relationship with each other, trust and care about one another, and have ongoing conversations or shared activities.
2. Inclusion: People who include others in activities and are friendly with them, yet don't necessarily have an intimate relationship.
3. Control: People who control and direct others in a way that often shows authority and power.
4. Poor Social Skills: People who lack the ability to interact properly and appropriately with others.
5. Isolation: People who prefer to stay by themselves and don't interact much with others.

Allport's scale helps us understand how people interact and how the environment affects their behavior. It's especially useful when trying to figure out why someone behaves a certain way.
