American slave court cases

American slave court cases were court cases about slavery in the United States. People sometimes went to the court to settle arguments about their rights as slaves. During some of these court cases, people argued whether people should be free or still be slaves. People who wanted to be free argued they should be treated like any other person and given rights like other people in the United States. People who wanted slavery to stay argued that since the slaves were owned by other people, they should remain slaves and not be allowed any rights or freedom. Eventually, the court made a decision based on the arguments of both sides. In many of these cases, the court ruled that slavery should be abolished and people should be treated equally.
