Amygdala hijack is a term used to explain what happens when we are feeling very stressed and don't have time to make the right decision. When something bad happens, our brain triggers the amygdala, which is a small part in the brain responsible for sending out signals that tell our body to go into fight or flight mode. This usually causes us to forget about our reasoning skills and just react in the moment. We don't have time to think it through and make a good decision, so we can just respond by attacking or running away. This is what is known as amygdala hijack. It is our body's way of protecting us from danger and can help us survive in scary situations.
