Corruption of scripture is when things are changed or added to a religious text. For example, in Christianity, the Bible is the most important religious text. Two notable corruptions of the Bible happened a long time ago.
The first corruption of scripture happened around 350 AD and is known as the Arian Heresy. This happened when a man named Arius started teaching that Jesus was not God, but was actually a lesser being than God. This went against what the Bible said, and so led to corruption of the text. Since then, many people have changed the Bible to include Arius’ teachings.
The second corruption of scripture happened in 1516 AD and is known as the Textus Receptus. This was when Bible scholars decided to change some of the words and phrases in the Bible to make them more “acceptable” to modern Christians. They removed a few lines from some books, altered some verses to make them more “correct,” and added their own words and phrases to the text.
These two corruptions of scripture have affected the Bible in many ways, and some people still use the altered versions today. It’s important for us to know about these changes in order to protect ourselves from false teachings and interpretations of the Bible.
