ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anattalakkhaṇa Sutta

The Anattalakkhaṇa Sutta is a Buddhist teaching about what makes us human. The Sutta explains that we are made up of five parts: the body, feelings, perceptions, mental formations and consciousness. All these parts come together to form our identity, but none of them are permanent or lasting. This means that our identities or "selves" are changing all the time. The Sutta then explains that open-minded mindfulness is the key to understanding this truth. If we practice mindfulness, we can better understand and accept the changing nature of our self.
