ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anglican realignment

Okay kiddo, let me explain Anglican realignment. So, you know how there are different kinds of churches, like Methodist, Baptist, and Catholic? Well, one of those churches is called the Anglican church, and it's mostly found in England and the United States.

Now, the Anglican church is made up of different groups who have slightly different beliefs about things like how to worship and what should be allowed in the church. Some of these differences are really important to people, and over the years, some groups have decided that they just can't stay in the same church as the others.

So, some of these groups decided to leave the bigger Anglican church and start their own. This is called Anglican realignment because they're taking some parts of the Anglican church and forming their own separate church that they think better represents their beliefs.

It's kind of like if you and your friends were playing a game, but you couldn't agree on the rules. Maybe some of you want to play a game where you can tag people, but others want to play a game where you can only touch them with a ball. If you couldn't agree on the rules, it might be easier for some of you to go play your own game with the rules you like best.

So, that's Anglican realignment – different groups leaving the bigger Anglican church and forming their own church with the beliefs and rules they like best.
