Aniconism

Aniconism is the practice of not using pictures or images of people or animals to represent things. Aniconism has been practiced for thousands of years and is common in some religions, like Islam and some forms of Judaism. In many cultures it is seen as disrespectful or weird to use pictures of people or animals in art, because it is seen as taking away the idea of something being unique or special. Some people believe that all forms of art should focus on ideas and concepts without using images of people or animals.
