ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Animistic fallacy

The animistic fallacy is when someone assigns human-like qualities or consciousness to things that are not human. For example, if someone believes that a rock has feelings or can make decisions, that would be the animistic fallacy. It's like pretending that everything around us is alive and has thoughts and feelings just like we do. But in reality, rocks, trees, and other non-living objects don't have feelings or consciousness like humans do. This fallacy can lead to many misunderstandings and beliefs that aren't based on reality. So even though it might be fun to pretend that everything around us is alive, it's important to remember that some things are just things and not alive like we are.
