ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Resistentialism

Have you ever noticed when you're trying to do something, sometimes things just seem to get in your way? Like when you drop your toy and it rolls under the sofa, or when your favorite shirt has a stubborn stain that won't come out, or when your bike tire keeps getting a flat even though you've fixed it multiple times? Well, that's where Resistentialism comes in!

Resistentialism is the silly idea that inanimate objects have a tendency to resist and frustrate humans. In other words, it's the idea that everyday objects like chairs, tables, and pens, somehow have a mind of their own and enjoy making our lives difficult.

This might sound a little silly, but it's actually a way for us to vent our frustration when dealing with objects that just won't cooperate. It's a reminder that we're not the only ones in control of our environment and that sometimes we just have to accept that things don't always go our way.

So next time you're trying to do something and it seems like everything is working against you, just remember that according to Resistentialism, it's not your fault - it's the fault of those pesky inanimate objects that seem to have a mind of their own!
