ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anne Dodd

Anne Dodd was a lady who lived a long time ago. She was very important because she helped to change the laws in the United Kingdom.

You know how you have certain rules that you have to follow at home and school, like cleaning up your toys and listening to your teacher? Well, grown-ups also have rules they have to follow called laws. These laws tell people what they can and cannot do, and they help to keep everyone safe.

In the past, there were some very unfair laws that said people couldn't do things just because of their skin color or where they came from. That's not fair, is it? Anne Dodd thought so too.

She worked really hard to change those laws. She talked to people in charge of making decisions and convinced them that everyone should be treated the same, no matter what they look like or where they come from.

Thanks to her hard work, those unfair laws were changed, and now everyone in the United Kingdom is treated equally. Isn't that great?

So you see, Anne Dodd was a very important person who fought for fairness and equality. We should all be grateful for people like her who work hard to make the world a better place!
