ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anselm of Canterbury

Anselm of Canterbury was a very smart man who lived a long time ago. He was very curious and loved to ask questions about difficult things. He was also very religious and loved God very much.

One day, Anselm started to wonder about God. He thought, "How do we know that God exists?" He asked lots of people, but no one could give him a good answer. Anselm decided to use his brain to figure out the answer himself.

He came up with something called the "Ontological Argument." It's a big, fancy word that means that if we can imagine something in our minds, then it must exist in real life. In other words, since we can think of God, He must exist in real life.

Anselm also wrote lots of books about God and religion. He believed that everyone should love God and follow his teachings. He became very famous and lots of people looked up to him as a wise teacher.

In the end, Anselm of Canterbury was a very smart and thoughtful man who tried to answer some of life's biggest questions. He believed that God existed and that we should all love and follow Him.
