Antimicrobial

Do you know what germs are? They are tiny living things that can make you sick. There are some germs that are good for us, but some can make us very sick.

Antimicrobial means something that can help kill or stop the growth of these harmful germs. Just like how you wash your hands with soap to get rid of germs, there are special, strong chemicals that can kill germs too.

Sometimes, when you go to the doctor and you are sick with a bad infection, they might prescribe an antimicrobial medicine, called an antibiotic. This medicine will help your body fight off the bad germs so that you can get better.

It is important to use these antimicrobial substances carefully because if we use them too often or in the wrong way, the germs we are trying to kill can become resistant to them. This means that the medicine won't work as well and it will be harder to fight off the infection. So we need to make sure that we always use these substances in the right way, and only when we really need them!
