Antinomian controversy

The antinomian controversy was a discussion between two groups of people in the 1500s about the best way to live a holy life. One group thought it was important to follow strict rules, while another group thought it was more important to rely on God's grace and love. Both groups thought that the other was wrong. They argued a lot over these two ideas and this debate is called the "antinomian controversy".
