ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

airplane

An airplane is a type of vehicle that can fly. It has wings, propellers and engines that help it to fly. The wings help to create lift, or an upward force that pushes the airplane up into the sky. The propellers give the airplane thrust, or a forward force that pushes the airplane forward. The engines provide power and make the propellers move. When the engines are running, they create a lot of noise. To fly, a pilot must put the airplane into the air. He or she will use the control stick and pedals to position the wings, and press the throttle to increase the speed of the engines. The airplane will then take off from the ground and fly in the air!
