Apollo 17 was the last space mission made by NASA that sent people to the moon. It was launched on December 7th 1972 and it had 3 astronauts (Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt, Commander Eugene Cernan, and Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans) on board. They orbited the moon, collected rocks and soil from the moon's surface, and took pictures. They also tested the moon's environment and landscape by driving a rover around it. After 3 days on the moon, the astronauts returned to Earth on December 19th 1972. Apollo 17 was a successful mission and it was the legs of the final humans to ever walk on the moon.
