Apollo program

The Apollo program was a series of space missions in the 1960s and 1970s that sent astronauts to the moon. It began with the Apollo 11 mission in which astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. During the Apollo program, 12 astronauts were sent to the moon and six of them walked on its surface. They returned with samples of rocks and soil, setting the stage for future space exploration.
