Apomixis

Apomixis is a way of making babies (or embryos) without a mom and a dad. Instead of a mom and a dad, the baby is made from a single plant. This process is called asexual reproduction because the baby is a clone of the parent. Plants reproduce through apomixis to help their species survive in tough environmental conditions. It also helps them produce more offspring and spread out to other areas. Apomixis is very important in the plant world!
