ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aquamanile

An aquamanile is a special container that people used a long time ago to hold water for washing their hands before eating dinner. It usually looks like an animal or a person, and it has a spout where the water would come out so that you could wash your hands easily. Imagine if you had a toy animal that could hold water and pour it out of its mouth, just like a water fountain. That's kind of what an aquamanile is, except it's made of metal or clay instead of being a toy, and people used it for a very important purpose. It was like a fancy version of a sink that you might use at home today!
